Hello mama, I did call Derek today, but I only texted him on his actual birthday. I really liked conference, though I feel like my favorite conference ever is still last conference. Not sure why I enjoyed it so much, but I did. Also, I did notice all the missionary talks, I think I'll reach out to some friends and ask them about their plans. We watched the first session of conference with the Ramos family, and the second with Brother Sears. On Sunday, we watched conference at the YSA bishop's house. We also had a really good lunch there with about 8 other YSA members. I have two new companions, they are Elders Winters and Price. Elder Winters is from Tooele, UT and has been out for 18 months. He was originally assigned to the Brisbane, Australia mission, but says he will get permanently reassigned this month. He is hardworking and is absolutely amazing at singing, he's hoping to join BYU vocal point when he gets back. Elder Price is also super diligent, but a little too hard on himself sometimes. Elder Price is from Meridian, ID and also likes singing. He was originally assigned to Fresno and has been out for about 9 months. A trio is kind of awesome because when it's two people, there's an atmosphere of I do it, or you do it, but a trio has a relaxed vibe. I thought it would be hard to teach, but we honestly flow pretty well. I'd say the only issue is that we feel a little intimidating walking up to someone. Three men walking up to you or your door is kind of a lot. I have been sleeping way better here. I usually only wake up once during the night. Also, I haven't been sick. Nothing new about Singapore, so still looking at May 4th. Not a whole lot of new language study opportunities, I need a native to talk to, doing it alone is hardly productive. Also, Sister Wallace, the only other Chinese speaking missionary in Fresno, is in my district, but since she's a sister so we can't really practice together without bringing an extra companionship, and getting 7 people together just so the two of us can practice Chinese isn't very conventional. Both my companions are English speaking and Elder Winters is definitely antsy about waiting around for an hour while I do language study, so he would probably prefer I don't but I'm pretty adamant about it, and he doesn't push it. The family that came to church for the first time in 3 years was the Delegrande family. They are a huge addition to the ward. The parents are the youngest two people there and they have four kids. We were able to teach Elizabeth for the first time my last Sunday. She had a super strong Jacobite family and I doubt she'd change unless her family wanted, but she loved the lesson of the Restoration and said she'd read and pray about the Book of Mormon, but she didn't seem to have the idea that if it were true then she'd need to change churches. We shared a video about the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith's martyrdom with Mary, and she seemed unsure how to move forward. She felt like she'd learned and read too much anti stuff for our church to be true, and she wanted to stay where she was. I did get both my packages, and the Snickerdoodles were absolutely amazing:) You and Kenzee are awesome! Miracle: I moved from one of the biggest Elder apartments to the smallest and I was in a trio. Also, we have so much food in Ceres and I just assumed all apartments were full of food, I was wrong. The new apartment had no food, and we were honestly not sure what we were going to eat all of last week, but then we had two dinners with part-member families who gave us a bunch of food, it was a miracle. Challenge: This area only has 3 people we're teaching, and I have only met one of them, so we had one lesson with a nonmember all week. Hopefully we find some more next week. Good News: Both my companions are hard working and it's so relieving to work. Love you! Elder Jaxon Wardle
