I believe I am the first Chinese missionary in this area in many years. When I arrived we only had about 2 people we were teaching and neither of them were very solid. But, in March we spent a lot of time finding every single day. The first week here I had one day where I taught the restoration about 10 times to people on the streets in Chinese. I used more Chinese the first month here than in the rest of my mission combined. We only ended up continuing to teach maybe 3 or 4 but it was an awesome day. I feel like Elder Thatcher and I worked well together. He doesn't quite have any language abilities at the moment, but he's definitely inspired by the spirit. One of our first weeks he prayed and felt that we should go to a particular street. While we were there, we met many people who were very kind and one in particular named Lao Kung Chu who invited us to come back. Lao Kung Chu is a very kind older gentleman who wanted to follow Christ and only needed to know how. He got baptized about a month after we began meeting with him. Lao is now the first person at church each Sunday and almost always helps with the sacrament. It's always so nice to see him.
