New Chinese Friends and a Murph

Hello, This week was super awesome. We were super blessed to meet a lot of new people to teach and have many of them attend church with us. I met some new Chinese friends, Amy, and Ellen. They are both from mainland China and their English is about as good as my Chinese. However, my gospel vocabulary is a bit better, so we swap back and forth a lot. This has really been the first time I've been able to teach using Chinese in-person and it was a huge help to me. We've also found some really cheap places to eat recently, and it's been amazing. Roti Canai is amazing, and like 25 cents each, so a dollar or so for a whole meal's worth. We did a Murph last Monday with our Branch President and it was a lot of fun. We split it up so instead of 1 mile, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats and another mile, all in a row, we did: 1 mile 20 rounds of: 5 pull-ups 10 push-ups 15 squats And then another mile and we finished in like 36 minutes with relative ease, so I think we'll try it again with weight or doing more reps per set. Our branch president is also really working on strengthening the branch, and we're excited to help. We didn't meet with Angelina this week, but Chee Wei is doing super awesome. He reads a chapter a day and came to the lesson with good questions. He's not very familiar with who Jesus Christ is, so we read the Living Christ with him and he loved it. He said more people need to learn what Jesus did for them. He decided to recommit to praying daily to go along with his scripture study, so we're excited to see him keep progressing. We met with Brandon last night over a video call and we were able to talk to him about the blessings of baptism, and a little bit about the need for priesthood authority, but then his grandma walked in and she wanted to chat with us for awhile, so we'll teach about the Restoration in full next time. We've been sending videos of us teaching principles to the Catholic lady, and she always replies with excitement, but doesn't really answer the questions we ask or seem to fully comprehend everything. Miracle: We taught a lesson to two Chinese ladies, and they both came to church. Amy also brought her two daughters who are 17 and 18, and they brought their friend Denny who brought her 12 year old son. So, one lesson with two people led to 6 people at church, it was amazing! Challenge: We taught the second hour class, but we had 3 people there that only speak Chinese, one that only speaks Malay, and others that only speak English, so it took quite a lot of time to teach, a lot of translation. Luckily we have some members that are willing to help, but hopefully Elder Zaleski and I will get good enough to just teach it in both. We also might have to split it up and teach one in Malay/English and a different one in Chinese/English because three languages took a lot of time. Good News: The Chinese families we taught told us that their complex has a lot of mainland Chinese people who would love to learn English, so we're hoping to start up an English class to start helping all of them!
Love,
Elder Wardle
