Hey mama,
This week has been pretty good. It blows my mind that Emilee is almost 16, that's so scary.
Our lesson with Lee and Les ended up being just Les. It was a good lesson, but we shared some scriptures in Chinese and he didn't understand what the scripture was saying. The thing is, I couldn't think of a better way to describe it to him in Chinese. I understood the verse and I barely speak Chinese, so I've gotta work on my ability to explain and expound scriptures in Chinese. We also had another lesson with Les during the second hour of church this week. Since we had two friends (Les and Vincent) at church who only speak Chinese, one of our members offered to teach Gospel principles in Chinese. We mostly read out of the book, and I can't read too many characters, so I wasn't a huge help, but I learned a lot and can certainly see how much faster my Chinese will progress if I'm constantly immersed in it like that.
We haven't taught Max's family or John this week. Our high schoolers also stopped responding these last few days, so that's troubling.
We ended up not going to Malaka because there was an activity at Cheras after church and we had a lot of friends there. Plus, our ride to Malaka got sick.
Elder Gray and I are both staying at least for the next 3 weeks. We're going to have a mid-transfer this transfer because 7 new missionaries come into the mission in 3 weeks.
Miracle:
We were able to find Diana and her family another ride home from church, so they could stay after and have a lesson. And.... Diana is finally on baptismal date! It'll be next month with one of her friends in the church.
Challenge:
I'll be honest, I was really hoping for a change this transfer. Changes help me start fresh, develop a renewed excitement, and increase my desire to change. I had wanted to move out of Cheras, but I got told I'll likely be here for another 3 months. Luckily, this gives me the opportunity to learn how to renew my mindset and change myself on my own, without the aid of changing circumstances.
Good News:
It's my companion's last transfer, and he wants to go out with a bang, so I'm looking forward to helping him with that:)
Love,
Elder Wardle
