Following a Prompting

I too hope that I'll go to Singapore. But, I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much. It sounded like a double maybe. It said I was a candidate for the first group, not necessarily part of it, and that group, which may or may not include me, may or may not leave on April 7th. It was a nice wake up call. I've been doing better on my language study since I heard I may be going.

Sarah and Keith didn't go to church this week, and they kept canceling for the lessons. Sarah ends up going to sleep everytime we're about to come over. We helped Keith install a toilet though. Elizabeth and Mary both came to church again. Turns out Mary is outside of our area and belongs to another area, so we can't teach her, but has a friend in our ward, so she comes to our ward.

Elizabeth is crazy busy, so the only times she can meet is a couple hours after church, so we're going to do that next Sunday. Also, she may have to start going to the YSA. We weren't able to catch Bertha or her daughters this week.

We're probably going to drop Carol, no church, and only responded to one of our texts this week and that was to say she wasn't going to make it to our lesson. She's a lovely lady but not willing to keep commitments.

We met with Mary twice this week. The first time, she felt like she couldn't read and pray about the Book of Mormon because of some of her research. Stuff about Joseph Smith and an endowment session she watched online. We discussed how she wouldn't ask athiests about whether or not Christianity is real, or look up articles instead of reading the Bible, so she comitted to reading, and she actually did. She read and prayed about 3 Nephi 11, she's still unsure. She said Galatians keeps coming to her mind when she prays about it, so we're going to go over some of that with her next time and she'll keep praying.

I texted Hao Ming, but he hasn't read or responded to my last couple of texts. Elder Baak is only able to meet with me 1-2 times a week, and our times haven't really lined up, so we only did it last Monday. He hasn't heard about me going yet. Hopefully we'll be able to meet more this week.

We stopped by Juan a couple times, but he wasn't home. We also haven't had any contact with the lady from the church parking lot. The pass off lesson with Marquita didn't end up working but she called us later and we were able to get her in contact with the other Elders. So, they're just gonna take over.

Miracle:

I was pretty tired the other night, and we were about to head back to our apartment, but as we were walking back to the car, I felt like I should knock on a particular door. My first reaction was, nah, I'm tired, I'm just gonna get in the car. But, immediately I thought, why wouldn't I go knock this door, I knock tons of doors and I felt a prompting for this one. So, I told Elder Astel we had to go knock it. The lady wasn't necessarily golden, but we talked for a while and she was interested and set a time for us to come back this week.

Challenge:

I've been in Ceres for a long time and I haven't seen tons of progress but I'm not totally sure how to change that. I wish I'd had more companions and areas to learn a little better what works and what doesn't.

Good News:

We finally had a lesson with Marie last week and she understood it really well. She found the idea of worldwide apostasies really scary and was relieved to hear of the restoration. She also loves the Plan of Salvation and feels like when she reads the Book of Mormon, God is speaking specifically to her, and it's been awesome to see. Hopefully she comes to church next week. We'd love to set a date for her soon.

Love you,

Elder Jaxon Wardle
