A Passover Meal for Easter

This week was pretty good, I think. I always think about what happened the previous week and literally can't remember anything. Easter was a pretty normal Sunday, honestly. I got to give a short testimony about the Savior's Atonement and Resurrection during sacrament meeting and talk more about the Atonement and skydiving during Sunday School. That evening we went to the Larsen's and they had two feasts for us. The first was a traditional passover meal with unleavened bread, bitter herbs, lamb, roasted egg, salt water, and a bunch of other stuff I don't remember. It was pretty cool and the lamb was delicious. But, she just had us try everything from the passover meal, then we had some ham, cheese potatoes, and rolls, aka leavened bread. It was amazing and also a lot of food, followed by an orange flower and lemon cheese cake. šŸ˜‹ Things are pretty good in the companionship, I've found I just need to talk when there's something on my mind, so they don't try to make me when there's nothing lol. I'm still not confident on how to improve my language studies. I think I just need to speak Chinese to someone, but that's a difficult task. I'm trying to do more reading, and going back to memorizing vocab, so by the time I can talk to someone, the words will already be there, I just have to learn to recognize them. Also, my headaches have gone away too, I think I just wasn't sleeping well in my last apartment for some reason. I still wake up every night, but it's now because I need to go to the bathroom, but I'm on the top bunk, and it doesn't have a ladder, and the borders are high, plus there's a fan going that I have to avoid hitting, so it's a process to climb out of and I'm often too tired to get out of bed, not to mention I don't want to wake up my companions, so I've just been enduring šŸ˜… We always run out of time to do Facebook stuff, we do an hour a day, but since there are three of us, we only get about twenty minutes each and we're all messaging a fair amount of people. We did find a couple of new people this week, but one of them is YSA, so we passed him off. I think one of the others is unaccountable, but Elder Winters wants to keep going, so we'll keep teaching him for now. Also, we found this guy named Nick and he is so cool. I'm kinda kicking myself from not inviting him to be baptized after the first lesson because I really thought about it. We went through the restoration, and after we were done and about to head out, we asked if he had any questions about what we'd taught and he goes, "I've been having one question I've been thinking of this whole time, 'Is it ever too late to be baptized?'" We promised him it wasn't and told him we'd love to help him prepare for it. So, I'm looking forward to teaching him this Thursday and hopefully giving him a baptismal date. So, about the bike. It is now on it's 3rd flat tire since I've gotten it, plus the seat is too high. Also, I forgot to buy a new tube for it today, but I don't really want to. Luckily, our neighbor has been letting me borrow his bike. He's not a member, but the sister missionaries are teaching his wife, and he is super cool. I'm pretty sure I figured out my debit card, I talked to an actual person instead of the robot and he said he activated it for me, but I haven't tried it yet. I'll try it sometime this week. I didn't know Aunt Tammy's family was from Fresno. I haven't met any Tringalis. I'm in the Tollhouse ward, it's in Clovis which is part of the East Fresno Stake. I looked at the stake directory and there are some Tringalis in my stake, but not my ward. Miracle: I honestly feel like Nick's story was my miracle, so I'm gonna go with that. Challenge: My bike is a pain, and yesterday our dinner appointment was 11 miles away, luckily we got a ride to that one, but we had a lesson that was about 5 miles out, so we're just losing a lot of time to travel, which I kind of enjoy, it's nice to think while you bike, but it's hard to think when you can't sit down on the bike. Good News: We've got like 3 lessons set up with people from Facebook, so maybe us being social media trainers has helped me, and the companionship as a whole, get better at social media work.

Love,

Elder Jaxon Wardle
